<p style="text-align: justify;">Thanda After- School was started three years ago on the South Coast by Angela Larkan, who is one of a few leading forces in this country who has studied the wide-reaching, negative effects of the AIDS pandemic and rural poverty and who has come up with workable, holistic solutions to fight these issues.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Her research led to the development of the Thanda After-School model and she moved back to South Africa in 2008 to start the Thanda After-School Project. Today, Thanda is developing local solutions and sustainable approaches to various issues of HIV/AIDS and poverty in rural Africa.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Thanda&rsquo;s unique approach to fighting poverty and HIV/AIDS is about developing sustainable solutions to ongoing issues in rural South Africa. Through local capacity building and collaboration, Thanda empowers people to become problem solvers in their own community. Thanda After-School aims to be an effective support system for orphans and other vulnerable children within the rural community of Umtwalume in order to meet their needs and develop their coping skills. Thanda aims to empower these children with the emotional, social, economic, and practical skills they will need to succeed in the future.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Through education, mentoring and community-driven initiatives, Thanda After-School is inspiring and teaching South Africa&rsquo;s most vulnerable children to be the future leaders of this great nation.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Thanda After-School knows that by giving the next generation the tools they need to cope with the daily traumas they face and overcome the underlying problems that HIV/AIDS is leaving in its wake, local communities can discover opportunities and find the means to triumph over hardships like poverty, disease and lack of education.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Working in a rural area inland from Hibberdene, Thanda After-School&rsquo;s approach is based on the traditional Zulu culture of the community assisting and helping members in need.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Thanda After- School uses existing school buildings and local young mentors to provide targeted programs that create a support system after school each day. Thanda After-School is a prototype of Thanda&rsquo;s model of care for orphans and vulnerable children, filling in the gaps of missing parents. These children are part of a stable support system that offers guidance, mentoring, skills development and a way forward &#8211; every day.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">This allows us to work within the long standing African tradition whereby orphans live with extended family members of neighbors in the community, instead of being uprooted from their familiar surroundings.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Thanda currently operates in three low &ndash;performing government schools, where resources are extremely limited and Matric pass rates are very low. Thanda After-School currently enrols 325 orphans of AIDS and other vulnerable children aged between 5 and 22 years, in eleven different after school programs each day.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Thanda uses engaging activities such as arts, agriculture, academics and sports in order to learn about team work, respect and leadership.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Thanda also focuses on HIV prevention, skills development, and guidance as part of the mentorship provided every day. Every aspect of Thanda After-School was designed alongside the local community members to ensure its sustainability and effectiveness.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Thanda employs 11 young role models (teachers) from within the community to be mentors for these students, filling the developmental and emotional gaps left by missing parents and overwhelmed caregivers. 33% of children in Thanda report that their families do not have enough food for the month, so Thanda provides 325 children with a much-needed meal every day. This meal combats malnutrition and enables them to concentrate for the rest of the day.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The long term benefits of Thanda After-School are of most consequence. The students have the same teacher for a full school year, which allows the staff members to identify with their kids on a personal and experiential level, putting them in a prime position to instill in these vulnerable children the morals they need to become the self reliant, responsible, healthy, and ethical leaders South Africa needs.</p>

The reason being that it will ensure a speedier download of your listing once published and to prevent the system from freezing whilst uploading. Also, please upload your primary image 1st (This is the one that displays as the preview image.<br />
		&nbsp;</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Unlimited Description: </strong>The unlimited description means that unlike other Free Accommodation or Business Directories we do not restrict the length of your description. In fact we encourage that you write a long and detailed description of 500 words or more. The system only allows for basic formatting, like <strong>bolding</strong> or <u>underlining</u> text and it is recommended to use these to highlight features. Text will be justified by the Site Admin on approval of your listing.&nbsp;<br />
		&nbsp;</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Special Offer Box:</strong> This is a generic &#39;blue box that displays below the main description and is a good place to add any special offers and or any specific notifications you want to make known to potential clients. It has limited functionality and accpets plan text inputs. However, if you wish to structure/align the contents, it does requires a basic knowledge of HTML (i.e. codes for bold &lt;b&gt;&lt;/b&gt;; underline &lt;u&gt;&lt;/u&gt;; center &lt;center&gt;&lt;/center&gt; etc&#8230;)<br />

<li style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Document Downloads:</strong> A special box in which to link any documents you want to make available for download. This requires the Site Admin&#39;s input to implement, hence it only being available to Featured Listing Members. <li>Getting reviews means that the content on your listing or webpage is seen as being updated by the Search Engines. Search Engines love new content and updates to pages and this can have a positive affect on your listings search rankings.</li>
<li>When you 1st add your business, it is shown on our websites &#39;home page&#39;, giving maximum exposure. Eventually newer listings will bump it off the &#39;home page&#39; and by getting constant reviews, you can get yourself back on the &#39;home page&#39;, since the 5x most recent reviews are listed in the side-bar of the home page.

<li style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Added SEO Meta Tags:</strong> This may be a little technical for some of you, but essentially by having Meta Tags Added to your listing, you greatly enhance the ability of your individual listing being ranked in the Search Engines. Every WebPage of a website is indexed seperately by Search Engines and by having relevant Meta Tags Added, you can increase the your positioning within the Search Engine Result Pages (i.e. Where people find you in Google, Yahoo, Bing or similar Search Engines). Generally the Site Admin or on of our Support Staff will Add these for Featured Members, when the New Featured Listing is approved. You can specifically ask us to target this according to your own requirements, if you have an understanding of how this works. We also offer advanced Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) for both your listing and/or your personal website. <li style="text-align: justify;"><strong>In Listing Advertising:</strong> In order to keep our costs down and to be able to offer Free Business Listings &amp; Free Accommodation Listings, we run various advertising campaigns throughout the website. For the most part adverts are run in the side-bar and at the very top of the &#39;<em>home page</em>&#39; of the site and are relevanty unobtrusive. With the introduction of the Free Listings, we have introduced what we term: &quot;In Listing Advertising&quot;, which means that we reserve the right to publish advertising within the content/description of the Free Listings on the site. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h1 style="text-align: center;" align="center">The Hooting Owl Guest House</h1>
<p class="accreditations" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 12pt; text-align: center;" align="center"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman';">Self-Catering Accommodation.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt; text-align: justify;">The Hooting Owl is located in Marina Beach, on the KwaZulu Natal South Coast, also know as the &#8220;Golf Coast&#8221;, approximately two hours drive south from <a href="http://www.sa-venues.com/accommodation/durban.php"><span style="color: windowtext; text-decoration: none;">Durban</span></a>’s King Shaka International Airport. The guesthouse is set in a sub-tropical forest with valley views and prolific bird life. We provide the visitor with good quality, affordable self-catering accommodation.<span>  </span>We welcome all race groups, cultures and sexual orientation. The guesthouse can also be booked as a clothing optional retreat for naturist groups by special arrangement.</p>
<h4 style="text-align: justify;">Accommodation</h4>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt; text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">1. The Wood-Owl Lodge.</span></strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><br />
</span>In the past this area of the guesthouse was offered as bed and breakfast accommodation. However it is now being offered as a very spacious self-catering unit. There are three double en-suite bedrooms under thatch, with queen-sized beds sleeping two people each, i.e<strong>. a maximum of SIX people</strong>. Each of the double rooms has an en-suite rock effect shower, rock effect basin and a toilet. A floor fan and a hair dryer are supplied. The rooms are located on a separate wing with their own entrance overlooking the pool. The 100% percale linen, goose down pillows and duvets provided are to European standard. Hand and bath towels are also supplied, but guests must provide their own pool and/or beach towels.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt; text-align: justify;">There is a large comfortable TV lounge adjoining the fully fitted kitchen, both overlooking the pool area. The kitchen is equipped with cutlery, utensils and crockery for six people. The main appliances are gas and electric counter top hotplates, double oven, microwave, toaster and dishwasher.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt; text-align: justify;">The large dinning room contains two sets of tables and chairs, which can seat six or eight people respectively. A shutter opens on to the dinning room from the kitchen for ease of access when serving food.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt; text-align: justify;">Wooden decks surround the communal fresh water pool, which has views of the forest. The pool is heated to 28 degrees C. in winter. A change room, toilet and two showers are located next to the pool and all weather communal braai area.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt; text-align: justify;"><strong>NOTE:</strong> This unit may not be suitable for physically challenged adults or the elderly, due to the steep steps down to the unit from the parking area. Families with small children should also take note of the fact that the swimming pool is not protected by a fence or pool net. All children using the pool area must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times, regardless of whether they can swim or not.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt; text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> 2. The Scops-Owl Suite.</span></strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><br />
</span>The Scops-Owl Suite has its own entrance, via a private patio, ideal for a sundowner or braai. The suite has rustic features in a modern style with a queen-size bed, en-suite glass shower, modern basin and toilet. A small fitted kitchen, with stove, microwave, toaster, and all utensils and crockery. There is a small dining nook and TV area with SABC and ‘E’ channels and a DSTV Decoder. Guests must supply the decoder “smart card” to activate DSTV. This unit is ideal for a couple on an intimate getaway weekend or a family with up to two small children (under five). A camping cot or small single bed can be provided on request.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt; text-align: justify;">Bedding, bed linen, hand towels and bath towels are supplied. Guests must bring their own pool/beach towels.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">3. The Eagle-Owl</span></strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"> <strong>Cottage.</strong><br />
</span>The self-contained guest cottage is double storey, which can accommodate up to a <strong>maximum of eight people</strong>. On the ground floor the master bedroom with queen-size bed, has an en-suite bathroom, which also boasts an outside shower area in a secluded garden. The second bedroom, also with a queen-size bed, shares the second bathroom with the upstairs family room.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The open plan kitchen/dining/TV lounge area completes the downstairs floor plan. The TV has SABC and ‘E’ channels and a DSTV Decoder. Guests must supply the decoder “smart card” to activate DSTV. The kitchen is fully fitted with counter top stove, under counter oven, dishwasher, microwave and toaster. The unit has utensils and crockery for eight people. Upstairs, there is a very spacious family room with four three-quarter sized single beds.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt; text-align: justify;">Bedding, bed linen, hand towels and bath towels are supplied. Guests must bring their own pool/beach towels.</p>
<h4 style="text-align: justify;">Facilities</h4>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt; text-align: justify;">There is safe parking inside the perimeter of the premises for up to eight vehicles.<span>  </span>Guests will receive a remote control for the gate to gain easy access during their stay. All guest areas are covered by an in-house alarm system linked to Chubb Armed Response.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 12pt; text-align: justify;">A starter pack of tea, coffee, sugar &amp; milk plus a few toilet rolls will be provided. The guests are responsible for maintaining their own supplies. No other toiletries or guest amenities will be supplied.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Payments can be made by EFT, direct deposit, bank linked credit card transfer or PayPal. Credit card payment facilities are no longer available.</p>
